Road To The Cup Week 15
They blew off three at the last Twilight of the season, bringing to an
unceremonious end Twilight Series 2 and lowering the curtain on our 2015
Twilight season. Our scorer spent the weekend getting a little R&R with
his family and I didn’t have the heart to bother him. So we’ll get you the
Twilight results next week.
Aside from that, there’s not a lot more to report as fleet members
scattered to the winds to enjoy a well-deserved weekend off. The absence
of MRA didn’t stop some of us from getting out on the water. I know 2015
nationals champ *Dave Nelson* sailed his J105 in the One Regatta. *Charlie
Pendleton, **Frank McNamara* and I assume several others also participated
in that event. I spent some quality time bonding with my laser, which in
case you’re interested, is improving ever so slightly. To be clear, I
still suck, but I’m sucking a little less. The presence of bluefish
striking around me certainly raised the bar on staying upright, though I
don’t need a lot of extra motivation there. I did, however, learn that
it’s a good idea to leave your phone in the car when sailing lasers – don’t
bother calling my cell or texting me for a few days.
So, in Cup competition, nothing changed again this week. The top-10 are

Week 16 racing will include the Saturday-Sunday of MRA Series 4 Labor Day
Regatta. You should have received an evite for our traditional Labor Day
party, which this year will be held on Saturday September 5th at 6:30 at
the home of *Sloan & Charlie Pendleton*(thanks Sloan & Charlie). Like most
of our parties, this will be potluck, though Charlie has been known to
break out the grill and do burgers too. And thanks to *Elise Mazareas &
Mike Nash*, the fleet bar will be fully stocked and ready to go. Please
RSVP at your earliest convenience. –kp
