Greeting from the Prez – April 2003

Let’s go sailing

I hope everyone is itching to go sailing, as the ice and snow have finally melted away. The season is shaping up as an exciting and busy one. The first Spring Series race is May 17 – only six weeks away!

The big event early in the season is the East Coast Championships, hosted by Rockport on June 13-15th. The Sandy Bay Fleet always hosts a great regatta with terrific parties! For more information including the notice of race and entry form, check out the Sandy Bay website at http://sandybay.org/ rhodes.

Of course July brings Race Week, and then our Nationals come the last week of August. In case that’s not enough, the Fall Series extends until October 2nd!

Twilight is alright

Another great tradition is the Thursday evening Twilight Racing. For those who have not tried it, make an effort this year to join us on Thursday evenings for the Twilight Series. It’s relaxing (no spinnakers), easy to get to (start right at the Corinthian Yacht Club), and a great excuse to get out on the water after work. The racing is also just the right thing for younger kids or others who might find Saturday racing a bit daunting. After the racing, most everyone convenes for a drink and a bite at CYC. If you haven’t experienced Twilight Racing, make a point of trying it this year.

Nationals are coming

Planning for the Nationals, which are scheduled for August 26-29th, continues apace. As we get a little closer and specific plans firm up, we’ll communicate the details in a special newsletter.

You’ve got mail

You should receive a mailing with detailed MRA and fleet registration information by April 15th; if for some reason you don’t receive it, please let me know. See you on the water!
